Terms
Website terms
Updated 6 November 2026. The terms that apply when you use this website.
These terms cover your use of canberrastructuralengineers.com.au, run by Canberra Structural Engineers (ABN 22 651 397 410). By using the website, you accept them.
Is this website engineering advice for my property?
No. The guides, prices, FAQs and other pages are general information about structural engineering and building rules in the ACT and the Queanbeyan region. They can't take account of your property, its soil, your plans or your circumstances.
Engineering advice for your property comes only in the report, design, letter or certificate we prepare after you accept a fixed quote. Please don't make decisions about a particular building on the general information alone.
How do prices and quotes work?
- Prices on this website are from prices in Australian dollars, shown ex GST with the inc GST figure beside them. All of them are on our prices page.
- Extensions, knock-down rebuilds, granny flats, dual occupancies, heritage homes and commercial work have no published price. We quote them from your plans or photos.
- Every job gets a fixed quote before work starts. The quote sets the fee and the scope of the work, and for design work it says whether a site visit is needed.
- We reply with a fixed quote in under 20 minutes on average, during business hours. That is an average, so some requests take longer, for example when we need more information to price them.
- We may change the prices on this website from time to time. The fixed quote for your job is what sets your price.
What do you do, and what don't you do?
We provide structural engineering only: inspections, reports, designs, letters and certificates. We don't carry out building or repair work, recommend builders or repairers, give building approval or certification (a licensed certifier does that), or prepare the seller's building and compliance report. A structural inspection is not a pest inspection and doesn't include asbestos testing.
Are the guides up to date?
Guides and rule summaries are current at the date shown on them, and building rules change. For example, NCC 2025 becomes mandatory for ACT building approvals from 1 May 2027, with some exceptions for projects already in the system. Check the current rules with your certifier or the official source before you rely on them.
What about links to other websites?
Links to other websites, such as ACT Government pages, open in a new tab and are marked nofollow. We don't control those websites, and a link isn't an endorsement of them or their content.
Who owns the website content?
The content of this website is protected by copyright. You may print pages or share links for your own use; please don't copy or republish its text, photos, illustrations or design without our permission.
The photos illustrate the kinds of homes and work we describe. They don't show particular jobs, clients or addresses.
What about the information and files I send?
When you send a form, photos or plans, you confirm that the details are accurate as far as you know and that you're entitled to share the files with us. We use them as our privacy policy describes. Please send only what relates to your job.
Do these terms affect my consumer rights?
No. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the Australian Consumer Law.
Can these terms change?
Yes. We may update them, and the date at the top of this page shows the current version. Questions about these terms are welcome through our contact page.
