Privacy policy

Updated 6 November 2026. What we collect when you contact us, why, which services handle it, and how to see or delete it.

This policy covers Canberra Structural Engineers (ABN 22 651 397 410), the website canberrastructuralengineers.com.au, and enquiries we receive by phone and email. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.

What do we collect?

Mostly what you choose to send us:

  • Quote forms: your name, phone number, email address, suburb, the service you pick, your message and any files you attach (up to 5 photos, plans or documents).
  • Sent with each form: the page you sent it from and how you reached the website (see below).
  • Phone calls and emails: whatever you tell us or send us.
  • During a job: our notes and photos of the property, and the reports, drawings and letters we prepare.

You never need to send bank or card details through this website, and please leave photos of people out of your files.

Why do we collect it?

To prepare your fixed quote, carry out the inspection, design or report, contact you about the job, invoice you and keep business records. We also look at which pages and searches lead to enquiries so we can improve the website. We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't add you to a mailing list.

Which services handle it?

  • Web3Forms processes our quote forms and emails each request to us, and may send you an automatic email confirming we received it. Files you add to a form upload to Web3Forms as soon as you add them, before you press send, and reach us as download links.
  • Cloudflare hosts this website and protects it from abuse. Like any web host, it processes technical details such as IP addresses and the pages requested.
  • Google Analytics 4 measures how the website is used, such as the pages viewed, and records when someone sends a form or taps our phone number or email address. It uses cookies.
  • Microsoft Clarity records how visitors use our pages, such as clicks, scrolling and mouse movement, so we can find the parts that confuse people. It uses cookies.
  • Google Fonts supplies the website's typefaces, so your browser connects to Google when a page loads.

Each provider handles data under its own privacy terms.

How does the website track where enquiries come from?

Our own website code keeps a small note in your browser's local storage of how you arrived (for example a search, an ad or a link), the page you landed on and, after an ad click, the campaign, search keyword and click ID. The note lasts up to 90 days and is added to any form you send.

Page views, and taps on our phone number or email address, are also logged with that source and a random ID for the visit, through a small service we run on Cloudflare. None of this holds your name, phone number or email address.

You can clear cookies and browser storage in your browser settings; the website still works without them.

Who do we share it with?

Only as far as your job needs or the law requires:

  • people you ask us to share it with, such as your certifier, builder, designer, insurer, lawyer or conveyancer;
  • the providers above, and the email, phone, file storage and accounting services we use to run the business;
  • anyone the law requires us to give it to.

We don't pass your details to builders or repairers, because we don't recommend them.

Is it stored outside Australia?

It can be. Web3Forms, Cloudflare, Google and Microsoft may store or process information on servers outside Australia.

How long do you keep it, and how is it protected?

Reports, drawings, photos and site notes are kept as job records, because they may be needed later, for example to compare a crack over time. Quote requests that don't go ahead are kept only as long as our records need them. We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you.

How can I see, correct or delete my information?

Email info@canberrastructuralengineers.com.au or call 02 6189 9876 (Mon–Fri 8:00am–5:00pm). We may need to confirm who you are first, and we will reply within a reasonable time. If we can't make a change you ask for, we will tell you why.

How do I make a privacy complaint?

Contact us first and we will try to resolve it. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Will this policy change?

We update this page when something changes; the date at the top shows the current version. See also our website terms and contact details.
